There are some things about flight simulation that are difficult to replicate online.
You can fly with people from around the world.
You can spend an evening chatting in Discord.
You can watch livestreams, join virtual airlines, share your setup and have lengthy discussions about whether buying another piece of cockpit hardware is really necessary.
It usually is.
But there’s still something different about getting a group of people who love flight simulation together in the same place.
That’s one of the things that makes events like FSimUK so important.
And this October, AvGeekHangar isn’t simply going to be there.
We’re becoming part of the team.
More Than Turning Up With a Stand
AvGeekHangar is the Official Community Partner of FSimUK 2026.
We’re incredibly pleased to be able to say that, but the part we’re most excited about is what the partnership actually means.
We didn’t want our involvement with FSimUK 2026 to consist of putting up an AvGeekHangar banner, standing behind a table for the weekend and waiting for people to come and talk to us.
That’s not really what we’re trying to build.
Instead, we’ll be working alongside the FSimUK 2026 organisers across the event, helping create a weekend that’s welcoming, engaging and gives people plenty of reasons to get involved.
You’ll find members of the AvGeekHangar team around the show, including supporting the official visitor and information desks and helping the organisers keep things running smoothly throughout the weekend.
But we’re also creating a few things of our own.
And this is where it gets particularly interesting.
So, How Did This Happen?
When we decided to build AvGeekHangar, we had no idea plans were already underway to bring a dedicated flight simulation event back to the UK.
Then a message appeared on Discord announcing FSimUK 2026.
Earlier in the year we’d attended FSWeekend in the Netherlands, our first dedicated flight simulation show.
There was plenty of hardware, software and new technology to investigate, but the thing that stayed with us most was something much simpler.
The people.
Seeing a hobby normally experienced at home suddenly brought together in one place made us think about what a UK event could become.
So when we saw the FSimUK 2026 announcement, our first thought wasn’t about taking an exhibition stand.
It was:
What about the community?
We contacted the organisers, introduced AvGeekHangar and started talking about whether we could support some kind of community initiative.
That conversation led to discussions about supporting the Landing Challenges and eventually an invitation to join the organising team at Aerospace Bristol.
Walking around the venue together, talking about what different spaces might become, we started to see how some of the ideas behind AvGeekHangar could work in the real world.
One of those spaces would eventually become the Community Hub.
And what began as a conversation about helping support the community became something much bigger.
AvGeekHangar became FSimUK’s Official Community Partner.
Think You Can Land It?
Every flight simmer knows the feeling.
You’ve flown for three hours.
You’ve planned everything properly.
The approach is stable.
You’re perfectly lined up with the runway.
And then, somehow, the final ten feet resemble an aircraft carrier landing.
At FSimUK 2026, you’ll have the opportunity to prove you can do better.
Four flight simulation groups from across the UK will be running the Official FSimUK Landing Challenges, with AvGeekHangar supporting the activity and prizes.
There will also be two age categories, giving younger visitors the opportunity to compete, with the best performers recognised at the end of Saturday and Sunday.
But you certainly don’t need to be an experienced simmer to get involved.
In fact, that’s rather the point.
Never flown a simulator before?
Have a go.
Been flight simming for 30 years and reckon you can grease it onto the runway every time?
Definitely have a go.
And even if your landing leaves the virtual passengers questioning their choice of airline, taking part will also give you the opportunity to gain an entry into a grand prize draw.
So you don’t necessarily need the highest score.
Sometimes, turning up and giving it a go is enough.
Welcome to the Community Hub
A major part of our involvement at FSimUK will be the Community Hub – Powered by AvGeekHangar.
And the word community is important.
This isn’t another exhibition stand.
Flight simulation shows can be busy places. There’s plenty to see, people to speak to and probably more hardware to investigate than is healthy for your bank balance.
Sometimes you just want somewhere to stop for a bit.
That’s what the Community Hub is for.
Grab a seat.
Charge your phone for free.
Meet other visitors.
Discover people and projects from across flight simulation and aviation.
Or just take ten minutes before heading back out into the show.
There will also be opportunities to try flight simulation and get involved with activities taking place throughout the weekend.
There’s no requirement to buy anything.
In fact, that’s rather the point.
Whether you spend ten minutes in the Hub or keep finding yourself back there throughout the weekend, we want it to become a genuine meeting point within the show.
The idea behind it can really be summed up in three words:
Chill. Charge. Connect.
Shining a Light on the Community
One of the things we talked about when creating AvGeekHangar was how many interesting people, projects and groups exist within flight simulation and aviation.
Not all of them have enormous YouTube channels.
Not all of them are major manufacturers.
And not everybody wants, needs or can justify a traditional exhibition presence at an event.
But that doesn’t make what they’re doing any less interesting.
That’s why the Community Hub will include a dedicated Community Spotlight.
The idea is simple.
Give individuals, groups and smaller organisations from across the community an opportunity to show people what they do.
That could mean a demonstration.
A display.
A conversation about a project.
Or simply an opportunity to introduce something to people who might never have discovered it otherwise.
We’ve said from the beginning that AvGeekHangar should help showcase the people who make flight simulation and aviation interesting.
Community Spotlight is a chance to do exactly that in the real world.
Meet the People Behind the Content
Creators have become a huge part of modern flight simulation.
For many of us, they’re how we learn about new aircraft, hardware, add-ons and techniques.
They’re also often the people we spend several hours watching while they fly an aeroplane on the internet.
Which, when you say it like that, does sound slightly strange.
At FSimUK 2026, our Creator Corner will provide a more relaxed space for creators and visitors to meet.
We’ll be using it for interviews, Q&As, conversations, meet-the-creator sessions and other informal content throughout the weekend.
It’s not intended to feel like a formal stage.
The idea is to bring people a little closer together.
If there’s somebody you’ve watched online for years, Creator Corner might give you the opportunity to hear from them, ask a question or simply have a conversation.
It’ll also give us the chance to capture some of those conversations and stories from across FSimUK 2026 during the weekend.
Because there are going to be a lot of them.
Pick Up Your Flight Log
We also wanted to give visitors another reason to explore FSimUK 2026 rather than simply walk around it.
So we’re creating the AvGeekHangar Flight Log.
You’ll have a series of missions to complete around the event.
That could mean taking on one of the Landing Challenges, finding a secret aircraft or tracking down the answer to a question somewhere inside Aerospace Bristol.
Complete the Flight Log and you’ll have the opportunity to earn Hangar Miles for your AvGeekHangar account.
It’s part treasure hunt, part flight log and hopefully a good excuse to discover something at FSimUK 2026 you might otherwise have walked straight past.
And importantly, you won’t need to spend anything to take part.
It’s another small example of what we mean when we talk about rewarding people for getting involved with AvGeekHangar, not simply for getting their wallet out.
Why This Partnership Matters to Us
When we introduced AvGeekHangar, we talked a lot about being community first.
That’s easy to put on a website.
The more important question is what you actually do with it.
For us, being Official Community Partner of FSimUK 2026 is an opportunity to put that idea into practice.
It’s about helping.
Hosting.
Giving people opportunities to participate.
Introducing people to each other.
Supporting the organisers.
Giving smaller voices within the community somewhere to be seen.
And hopefully contributing something that makes the weekend even better for the people attending it.
Flight simulation may happen in a virtual world, but the community around it is very real.
And ultimately, that’s how we’ll judge whether the Community Hub has worked.
Of course, we’d love it to be busy.
But numbers aren’t everything.
At some point during the weekend, we’d like to look across the Hub and see somebody who’s stopped for half an hour.
Their phone is plugged into one of the chargers.
They’re sitting with somebody they didn’t know when they arrived that morning.
And they’re talking flight simulation.
If we see that happening, we’ll know the Community Hub has done exactly what it was created to do.
Chill. Charge. Connect.
So when you see the AvGeekHangar team at FSimUK 2026 this October, come and say hello.
Have a go at the Landing Challenge.
Pick up your Flight Log.
Spend some time in the Community Hub.
Discover somebody new through Community Spotlight.
Meet a familiar face in Creator Corner.
Or just stop by, charge your phone and talk aeroplanes with us for a while.
Grab your visitor boarding passes for FSimUK 2026 here, and we’ll see you there!
