AvGeek Hangar

Community Contribution & Content Submission Terms

These terms apply when a person or organisation voluntarily submits original content to AvGeekHangar for possible publication, unless separate written contributor, employment, freelance or commercial terms have been agreed. They are intended to support community contributions without taking ownership of a contributor’s original work.

  1. Who operates AvGeekHangar

AvGeekHangar is operated by AvGeekHangar Limited, Company No. 17199236, registered in England and Wales.

Questions about submissions can be sent to help@avgeekhangar.com.

  1. What these terms cover

At initial launch AvGeekHangar does not operate an open public content-upload portal. Contributions are curated or invitation-led, although community members and organisations may contact AvGeekHangar to be considered.

These terms may apply to material submitted for areas such as The Hangar, Technical Hangar, Add-ons & Liveries, Community Spotlight, creator features, virtual airline/community features, interviews, guides, articles and other community-led areas of AvGeekHangar.

Content may include text, photographs, graphics, screenshots, videos, links, quotations and other material submitted specifically for possible publication.

Separate terms may apply where AvGeekHangar commissions paid work, employs a contributor, purchases content, or enters into a specific content partnership.

  1. You keep ownership of your original content

You retain ownership of original copyright material that you create.

Submitting content to AvGeekHangar under these terms does not transfer ownership of your original work to AvGeekHangar.

These terms instead give us the limited permissions reasonably needed to review, edit, publish and promote the submitted contribution.

  1. Permission you give AvGeekHangar

By submitting content specifically for publication, you give AvGeekHangar a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to use, reproduce, format, edit, display and publish that content through AvGeekHangar’s website and AvGeekHangar-controlled promotional channels for the purpose of publishing and promoting the contribution.

This permission includes reasonable use of extracts, headlines, thumbnails or images to promote the published contribution on AvGeekHangar’s own social channels, newsletters or website.

“Non-exclusive” means you remain free to use your own work elsewhere, subject to any separate agreement you may have made.

  1. Credit

Where practical and appropriate, AvGeekHangar will credit contributors using the name, creator name, organisation name or account identity agreed for publication.

A contributor may ask us to use a creator/account name rather than a personal name.

The form of credit may vary according to the layout and type of content.

  1. What you confirm when submitting

By submitting content, you confirm to the best of your knowledge that:

  • you created the content or otherwise have the rights and permissions needed to provide it;
    • publication by AvGeekHangar in the agreed manner will not knowingly infringe another person’s copyright, trade mark, privacy or other legal rights;
    • any factual claims are made honestly and are not knowingly false or misleading;
    • the content is not knowingly defamatory or unlawful;
    • you have not included confidential information that you are not entitled to disclose; and
    • you have told us about any material commercial relationship relevant to the contribution.
  1. Third-party photographs, graphics and other material

Do not submit images, graphics, screenshots, articles, music, video or other material belonging to someone else unless you have the right or permission to do so or there is another lawful basis for the intended use.

Where material requires attribution or has usage restrictions, tell us when you submit it.

A photograph being publicly visible on the internet does not by itself mean that it is free for AvGeekHangar to republish.

  1. People appearing in photographs or video

If you submit photographs or video featuring identifiable people, you should have an appropriate basis for providing the material for publication.

Where consent, parental permission or another specific permission is required for the intended use, you should obtain it before submission.

AvGeekHangar may ask for confirmation where a submission involves children, private settings or potentially sensitive circumstances.

  1. Editing and formatting

AvGeekHangar may make reasonable changes for spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting, layout, accessibility, house style, headlines, search presentation and clarity.

We may crop or resize images where reasonably necessary for website presentation.

We will not deliberately change the substance of a contributor’s views so that the published content materially misrepresents what they intended to say.

Where we propose a substantial editorial change, we may return the content to the contributor for approval or clarification before publication.

  1. Fact checking and corrections

We may ask a contributor for sources, clarification or supporting information where appropriate.

If a factual error is identified after publication, we may correct or update the content.

Where a correction materially changes a contributor’s argument or opinion, we will aim to involve the contributor where reasonably practical.

  1. Publication is not guaranteed

Submission does not guarantee publication.

AvGeekHangar may decide whether a contribution fits the website, whether further work is needed, when it should be published and where it should appear.

We may decline content without being required to publish it merely because time has been spent preparing it.

  1. Timing and placement

Unless separately agreed, AvGeekHangar does not guarantee a particular publication date, homepage position, duration of promotion or amount of traffic.

We may move older content between categories or archive it as the website develops.

  1. Contributor opinions

Where content contains a contributor’s personal opinion, that opinion remains the contributor’s.

Publication does not necessarily mean that AvGeekHangar Limited agrees with every opinion expressed.

We may identify opinion, review or contributor content appropriately where context requires it.

  1. Reviews and product coverage

If a contribution reviews or discusses a product, software package, service or business, the contributor should tell AvGeekHangar about any material relationship that could be relevant to readers.

This includes, where applicable, free or loaned products, sponsorship, affiliate arrangements, employment, consultancy, brand ambassadorship or another material commercial connection.

AvGeekHangar will decide how the relationship should be disclosed in accordance with our “How We Work With Partners” approach.

  1. Affiliate links

Contributors must not insert undisclosed personal affiliate links or referral codes into content submitted to AvGeekHangar.

Any affiliate link used on AvGeekHangar must be approved and disclosed appropriately.

Unless separately agreed, publication of a contributor’s article does not entitle the contributor to AvGeekHangar affiliate revenue generated by the article.

  1. Payment

Community submissions under these terms are unpaid unless AvGeekHangar and the contributor expressly agree otherwise in writing before the work is commissioned or accepted on a paid basis.

If AvGeekHangar commissions paid content, the fee, deliverables, rights and payment arrangements should be agreed separately.

Nothing in these terms is intended to disguise an employment or paid freelance relationship as an unpaid community contribution.

  1. Creator and organisation names

Contributors may submit content under an agreed creator, channel, virtual airline, developer, community or organisation name.

You must have the right to use the name or branding you provide.

AvGeekHangar may include a reasonable biography, profile link or creator link where agreed.

  1. Links

We may include reasonable links to a contributor’s creator channel, website, community or relevant resources.

We may decline or remove links that are unsafe, unlawful, misleading, unrelated, excessively promotional or inconsistent with AvGeekHangar’s editorial approach.

  1. Removal and withdrawal requests

Before publication, a contributor may ask to withdraw a voluntary submission unless a separate agreement says otherwise.

After publication, you may contact us if you have a reasonable concern or wish to request removal.

We will consider removal requests fairly, taking account of the nature of the content, the reason for the request, third-party rights, editorial record and any continuing legitimate reason for publication.

Where removal is appropriate, copies may remain temporarily in technical backups or caches.

  1. AvGeekHangar’s right to remove content

AvGeekHangar may remove, unpublish or archive content where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • rights or permission concerns arise;
    • the material becomes materially inaccurate or misleading;
    • a legal complaint is received;
    • the content presents a safety or security concern;
    • the contributor materially breached these submission terms; or
    • the content no longer fits the service.

Removal does not transfer ownership of the contributor’s original work to AvGeekHangar.

  1. No employment, agency or partnership

Submitting voluntary community content does not by itself make a contributor an employee, worker, agent, legal partner or representative of AvGeekHangar Limited.

Contributors must not represent that they have authority to enter into contracts or make commitments on behalf of AvGeekHangar unless expressly authorised.

  1. Confidential information

If AvGeekHangar provides information to a contributor on a confidential or embargoed basis, any separate confidentiality or embargo terms must be respected.

Likewise, contributors should not send us third-party confidential information they are not entitled to disclose.

  1. AI-generated or materially AI-assisted content

If a submission is substantially generated by artificial intelligence, or AI has been used in a way that could materially affect authorship, factual reliability or rights in the content, the contributor should tell AvGeekHangar.

AvGeekHangar may decide whether such content is appropriate for publication and may require additional checking or editing.

Routine spelling, grammar, transcription or formatting assistance does not necessarily need separate disclosure unless requested.

  1. Liability and legal rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

A contributor remains responsible for deliberate infringement, fraud or knowingly unlawful material they submit, subject to applicable law.

AvGeekHangar remains responsible for its own editorial actions to the extent required by law.

  1. Privacy

Personal information associated with submissions is handled under the AvGeekHangar Privacy Notice and related data-protection arrangements.

Privacy and consent implementation is managed separately from these submission terms.

  1. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future submissions.

The version presented or agreed when a contribution is submitted will normally apply to that submission unless a later change is separately agreed.

  1. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply.

If a concern arises, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it.
